The University Grants Commission has written to the vice-chancellors of universities to encourage students to take a voluntary online national-level exam on ‘gau vigyan’ or cow science.
A national-level voluntary exam on ‘cow science’ will be held in India on February 25 to sensitize people about the animal and its benefits.
The exam will be held for free across four different levels and in 12 regional languages apart from English and Hindi. The one-hour long ‘Kamdhenu Gau Vigyan Prachar Prasar Examination’ will be held annually.
Letter from UGC
“Kamdhenu Aayog (RKA), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India, established in February 2019, has been working on dissemination of information on economic, scientific, environmental, health, agriculture and spiritual relevance of indigenous cow in the country,” the letter from UGC said.
“Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog is going to conduct an All India On-Line ‘Kamdhenu Gau Viryan Prachar- Prasar Examination’ on 5th February, 2021 for students of primary, secondary and senior secondary schools/ colleges/ universities and for all citizens. All the participants will be given appreciation certificates,” it said.
“Relevant information for this exam is available on the website of the Aayog, i.e., kamdhenu.gov.in,” it said.
“I write this to request you, to give wide publicity to this initiative and encourage students to enroll/register themselves for this examination. This may also be brought to the notice of the colleges affiliated to your university,” UGC requested through the letter to VCs.
