Shia liberal cleric Maulana Kalbe Sadiq dies in Lucknow

Maulana Dr Kalbe Sadiq , a well known Shia personality passed away in Lucknow at the age of 83 suffering from serious ailments. He has been well known for his soft, kind approach towards unification of Muslims and Hindus in India.

Educated from the Aligarh Muslim University, Dr Sadiq was true follower of the thoughts of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan possessing the Ideology that success and survival of Muslims only lies in being obedient to the ruling majority and Muslims should follow Western modernization, scientific developments and excel in professional academic career to be successful as a community. 

The Times of India and other leading newspapers of India titled Dr Sadiq as a Shia cleric with Liberal thought being very flexible on Shariah ruling and always trying to find the best way out to cooperate with other Muslim sects and Hindu religion.

Kalbe Sadiq received a lot of criticism over last decade for his extreme steps towards Hindu Muslim unity whereby he propagated with actions to Muslims for visiting Hindu temples, worshipping idols and participating in Hindu rituals and he himself decided to go for ritualistic bath in Ganges river. 

Dr Sadiq’s nephew Maulana Kalbe Jawad is the leader of Shias but unfortunately he was not present in the last moments of Dr Sadiq being on a delegated mission to Kashmir after being deputed by Amit Shah in his meeting few days back. Jawad is trying to gain popularity and acceptance of BJP within Kashmiri Shias who in recent Mohurrum came out sporadically as a big threat for first time in history of Kashmir. Jawad also ended up in a dispute with his uncle Dr Sadiq on Anti CAA protests, where Sadiq supported the protesting women and even visited the protest site at Ghanta Ghar in Lucknow, on which Jawad blasted him in Friday sermon quoting that Sadiq was a government loyalite for his entire life when he was gaining something but now when he is not getting anything from state he is supporting the opponents. 

Being a Vice President of Muslim Personal Law Board, Muslims of India are mourning for the passing away of true inheritor icon of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan from India.
